BOP DEPOT "LADY GAGA ON MY RADIO" EDITION
This playlist’s title comes from the opening lyrics to Mykki Blanco’s latest single, the soothing and hilarious “You Will Find It”. It also seems appropriate since my brain is flooded from repeat listens to Gaga’s “Rain on Me”.
I haven’t put out a new playlist since late March, so this is essentially a roundup of April and May releases. Call it spring cleaning before the blog is back online regularly. Jaye Naima’s “So What” is the most fun rap release of the year so far. Chav continues a winning streak with “Fashion Ho” produced by fellow New Yorker Brett Castro, who returns with a new double single showcasing his vocals. Closegood builds on the strength of their new era with the dreamy “CARDBOARD SWORD”.
Shamir’s new album Cataclysm is represented here by opening track “Hell”, which slyly calls back to “Demons” (the most prophetic track from his first album). Serpentwithfeet quietly dropped the gorgeous three-track Apparition EP. Jawn Houston dropped The Essence, appropriately named for the way it captures all his disparate influences, and Mother Nature returned with Portalz, the summer sister to last year’s Saturn Return. - Stevie
