Let’s get one thing straight: the “100 Boos” remix was the song of the summer. The amped-up version of St. Louis rapper Peanut’s original appears on Lez Pop’s excellent EP re-release The Girls (Reloaded).
The song that inspired this playlist’s title is joined by Emily Blue’s “Trump.”, a conceptual track that swings between sonic extremes and is written from the POV of our deranged president. Auden’s one-off “Reunited” is shimmering house perfection, and Janghoon’s “Honeycrisp” marks the Sacramento artist as one to watch.
Moistbreezy’s immersive Breezy EP is represented here by the massive lead single “Contact”, a non-stop dance track that left me pining for pre-pandemic dance floors. The irreverent “do 1I l00K l1Ke C0 nAzTii??” is pulled from Lonemoon’s latest album, the colorful and elevated Kit@Nai.
Considering most of the songs on here were my favorites from this summer, I wanted to put it out a bit earlier but the arrival of my new puppy Prudence (pictured in the cover art) has sponged up a lot of my time. But even as the weather turns brittle, I’ll return to all these songs for a long time to come. - Stevie
